‘Courageous’ is the spirit of modern Chandigarh and courageous are those who dare to echo the spirit. 3152, a residence in sector 21, the heart of Chandigarh, is an attempt in this direction. Is it the bold play of volumes or the very nerve of materials to go naked…one is left wondering!

Wellll….. I simply love my peace- can’t have any parinda ‘pok-pokking’ my door any time of the day or night. Jokes apart, when it came to the decision of wooden flooring for our bedrooms, I was very sure there could be no other way than the’ 3- R way’- Recycling wood was my contribution towards ‘Mission Sustainability’.

For most couples making their dream house, the situation turns war-like, at some point. Passions get ignited when it comes to deciding the materials palette for their abode. I experienced this myself in 2013-14, during the making of our own house.

I believe that an Architect’s creation becomes worthwhile if it is responsive to its inhabitants, its environment and to its context. Buildings and spaces should be’ alive’, enough to evoke the desired responses in people.
