An iconic calendar was launched on the 6th of September, 2019, i.e. the opening day of the month long The RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) President’s Medals Exhibition, by David Gloster, at Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA). Architects Maxwell Fry and Jane Drew experimented with architectural elements in their works in Chandigarh from 1951 to 1954 that inspire us even today. These elements have been captured and composed by us, in the form of a month long perpetual calendar (that which does not belong to any one month or any one year). The captions allotted to each element are playful interpretations of their characteristics, by the authors of the calendar themselves.

A combination of solids and voids gave Sector 22, the oldest Chandigarh neighbourhood, a unique architectural element – the ‘Jaalis’. Attractive facade and street pictures emerged, giving rise to the ‘Chandigarh style of architecture’.
